Any former Mk5 R32 owners?

I'm thinking of selling my R32 and was wondering if anyone else had made the switch? Went for a test drive in a new GT170 and it was nice but I'm really going to miss the sound of that engine! I've had the Golf 4 years and I'm doing more miles now so it makes sense to change to something more economical but don't want to be paying more for a car that feels no where near as special. Any advice or thoughts welcome?

I had a MK5 R32 for 5 years before making the switch to a Scirocco.170 TDI in 2011. I made the switch to reduce my running costs, which it certainly did.
Although the Scirocco doesn't have the noise, the performance or traction of the R32 it's certainly not slow and IMO is a good compromise between.performance and economy. It does lack the character of the R32. It all comes down to personal preferences and priorities.

I went from a mk5 r32 to a scirocco gt 2.0 petrol and to be honest I thought I made the wrong decision. I now own an R and almost love it has much gas the r32.
Cuprabob is right the scirocco doesn't sound as good or go as fast but its still a really nice car to drive. Although I bought a pretol the running cost were still a lot less than golf.

Thanks for the replies gents, I just need to face facts and let the car go, had some great drives back from work this week it's like it's trying to make me keep it! The Scirocco felt much nimble and light but the R32 as a package is so good I knew it would be difficult to replace. I have a set of winter alloys with an offset of 48.5, would these need spacers?
Had a look for a 170TDI but trying to find one with all the options looks like it's going to be a difficult job, to be honest as the only reason I'm changing is to reduce running costs I would have a 140 blue motion if I could find one with pan roof, dsg, sat nav, dynaudio, parking, cruise, leather, xenons etc.

Scirocco offset is 41 with the 8" OEM wheels so your winter wheels will need at least 10mm spacers to sit right
