Thank you for posting these links, interesting review but I think the facelift is too similar to the current model to encourage people to upgrade.

I have to admit, the facelift is really growing on me. Wasn't sure about the rear lines, on either the GT or the R, but I think both look a lot crisper now -- and the rear now more balanced, perhaps, with the front lines. The new light clusters bring it up to date.

Those boy-racer dials remain a mistake, however. On which, interesting that, according to the guy in the first of the clips, VW are aiming at the 30s market with the Scirocco (or R, at least - can't recall which he was referring to). Clearly, they aren't aware of the number of BOFs on this forum.
