Keeping Rocco Value

Afternoon All,

After some opinions. Throughout the mods made to my car, i've always tried to make sure that it can be easily put back to stock when I (one day) choose to sell. I'm after wrapping the rear lip of the car in gloss black rather than spraying for the same reason it can be peeled off. Speaking to the guys at the shop today, they would advice it be sprayed as wrapping can take the paint off in some occasions and which case i would need it sprayed anyway. This of course leaves me in the dilema off risking the paintwork coming off or spraying it and leaving it sprayed when i sell.

Can anyone possibly shed some light on selling a car with modded parts?

Never heard of paint coming off when applying or removing a wrap. Who did you speak to?

Local shop to me - a lot of the guys from the local meet get their work done there and have recommendations! I'm sure it might be just in case thing but at the same time if it does happen it would be dreadful. Just trying to work out if it would be worth just getting it sprayed! Such a novice on this haha

I've heard of paint coming off on panels that have had paint jobs that haven't been keyed properly.
I actually got my bumper lip sprayed as I don't think it needs to go back to standard when I sell the car as it's a subtle mod that doesn't look out of place :-)

If the paint was damaged prior to wrapping or had been resprayed/touched up there is a risk removing the wrap will pull sections of paint off at the same time.

Equally if the paint was damaged during wrapping by the wrappers cutting the film too deep and effectively scratching the paintwork there is also a risk of sections coming off during de-wrapping.

These are fairly rare events TBH and if the company doing to work to remove are careful there should be no reason why the panel will need spraying afterwards. You will find the paint has become slightly "flat" so a proper vallet/correction will be needed to restore the shine.

Selling wise a private buyer may well accept a modified car but it will be a more difficult sell, dealers generally will not.
