New owner dsg quick one!

Hi Guys

Picked up a 2010 plate 2.0tsi DSG yesterday, not bad as I only decided to start looking a week ago!

Loving every minuite so far, coming from an old 320d I miss the rwd but the rocco makes up for it in every other way, and I hvent had the pleasure of getting onto some decent out of town roads yet... :hyper:

Given the amount of town driving I have been doing I have noticed that when coming to a gradual stop (ie very light breaking just letting the auto pull forward with no gas) there is a very light shuddering "felt" through the clutch and chassie. Tbh doeant feel like anything to worry about, much like a manual would feelat the same low speeds in 2nd wanting to go to 1st (but much more subtle), but thoight I would check its not supposed to be completely smooth!

Coming to a more definate stop no evidence of this, assuming the auto is disengaging gears more cleanly?

Cheers
R

Yes jjjjjjust before you actually stop, the clutch disengages and you just a slight stutter. You'll also find you get a LOT of engine braking when when it downchanges to 2nd or 1st when rolling up to traffic lights.

Im also kind of new here, have owned mine for a month now and its my first automatic/DSG. I usually put it in Neutral coming in to red lights. Is that "wrong" ?

I've noticed the drop to 2nd braking kev lol. I find the brakes to be pretty good even coming from a 350z so if you leave it a bit later then brake heading towards a speed bump etc you sometimes nearly get a mouthful of steering wheel lol

Shifting to neutral whilst in motion is not recommended according to the manual. The box will automatically disengage the clutch when you become stationary.

Cheers Kev, sounds about right :D

Yet to notice the engine breaking, but I think thats largely because im concentrating on trying not to put my face through the dashboard with the breaks, they are savage! My girlfriend keeps thinking we have been hit by something....

On the neutral front, have a look at this thread, good discussion from pg 2 on, im now putting it in neutral when at a stop like a manual...

Sitting at the lights with your foot on the brake will piss off the driver behind- particularly at night the brake lights are v. bright

Yes - good point, if I know I will be stationary for a minute or longer, I tend to go back to 'P' and take my foot off the brake.
