Front brake discs worn?

Hi all,
With 85k kms on the counter, my official VW dealer wants to replace my front brake discs, cos he says they're completely worn out.
As i don't trust him (heard some stories) i wanted to know:

Is this normal? What's the minimum brakedisc thickness?

I never went racing on track and could be considered a normal, sporty ;-) driver.

Thanks

The minimum disc thickness is stamped on the disc. You can measure it with a set of calipers although the size of the lip around the disc edge gives an indication of wear.

Disc and pad.life is a function of driving style so there is no normal, however at that mileage they certainly will be past their best.

tnx mate,
Calipers say 2,4cm, maybe 1 mm difference with the disc edge (edge of 1 side).
Can't find the stamped indication, maybe due to rust or just looking in the wrong place... Any1 knows the minimum thickness? It's the standard front brakedisc of the 2.0 TSI '09 edition.
PS living in belgium, so soz for the non-imperial numbers

I'm pretty sure the discs are 28mm so 24mm would make sense with 2mm wear on each face.

Yes, just checked ECP and it also says 25mm with a minimum of 22mm
