Buying my first Rocco (used)

Afternoon all,

I'm in the market for a used Scirocco (2.0 TSI GT), with the purchase coming from an official dealer only.

I'm looking at 2 different cars at the moment which are listed on the VW website. One is a 58 Candy White GT with DSG and below average miles. The second is an 09 Opal Silver (:/) GT with manual and slightly above average milage.

In general the 09 Opal is getting my attention because it's over a grand cheaper, has parking sensors (which the 58 doesn't). For the sake of extra miles (60k milage) i'm definitely swaying toward the Opal, but i'm just not sure if I could get over the colour. I know it's one of the least popular colours, i'm just not sure if it would grow on me over time. It's not so much that I hate the colour, I just don't want to spend a chunk of money on a car I absolutely love only to have it blend in and be bland. Where as I know the white would always get my attention and stand out a fair bit.

I know that the DSG requires a service every 40k miles I believe? I want to persuade myself to pay the extra money for the Candy version but I'm hesitant in case I spend more on a version which will cost me more if something goes wrong... - Any major issues with the DSG gearbox in a 58 Rocco guys?

Key specs:
Opal Silver:
Leather, parking sensors, 57k miles, manual £11.2k, 09 plate (reg Mar 2009)

Candy White:
Leather, 39.5k miles, DSG £12.5k, 58 plate (reg Feb 2009)

In summary, I think upwards of £1k is a lot to pay for the colour and miles. What do you all think? It's driving me crazy at the moment!

When I was looking (only bought 3 weeks ago) I avoided both DSG and white but that's my personal preference.

If it helps at all, mine was bought at a dealer (not VW) for £12.7k is a 09 and had 37ish k miles...

I would say you really need to figure out if you want a DSG or manual car before you start looking at individual cars for comparison. Its a fundamental decision. Once you have made that choice then only consider cars with that gearbox and your search will be easier.
