Auto Lights & Wipers

My Scirocco is a January 2011 (60 Plate) which I just recently bought, the VW dealer told me that when the lights are in auto the side lights or dipped beam will activate depending on the sun ligh at that time of the day, however mine dipped beam is always on regardless of the amount of sunlight. Also noticed when in off position dipped beam is still on when the engine is running is al of this normal?
Auto wipers, mine tend to have a mind of their own which I take it is normal!

Hello.
This is normal for the lights, it is VWs take on adding DRLs to the roc... A lot of people think the design/implementation isn't strictly synonymous to a DRL system and should probably be called ARLs (Always Running lights).... bad joke I know.
You can get these changed to the right setting. Either ask your dealer if they are willing to tweak it, or see if someone in your area with access to VCDS can help. Meanwhile, search for threads with DRL as a keyword and other forum member gripes about this subject.
Auto wipers: on the right hand side of your stalk, there is a sensitivity switch for the auto wipers. Adjust this to suit your needs
