Plate Transfer..

Hey guys,
This is only my second post here, wasn't quite sure where to post this so decided to post it here even though it isn't specifically about only Scirocco's.
I've bought a used Scirocco from a VW dealer which had a private plate on it. The plate transfer request was sent off to the DVLA by the dealer at the very end of December, the 30th or 31st I believe. I therefore cannot pick up the car until the plate change over has happened and has been processed by the DVLA.
To anyone who's been in this position before or have experience in plate transfers, how long does this process typically take?

Mine took 2 weeks last October but can take up to 4 weeks :-)

I got mine in october too which had a private plate on too. Transfer took about 2weeks then i could pick the car up

I know how u feel mate.
My missus car (my old car) got written off before christmas and my private plates where on there. Now i had to fill a v317 to transfer from the written off car to my rocco. And to help DVLA have closed all local offices down as off December 2013 so cant even pop in and sort it out in one day no more

Hmm, not impressed by a dealer selling a car with a private plate on it and wishing to retain the plate or hand it back to the previous owner.
They should either sell the car to you with the plate or not put on sale until the DVLA plate formalities are concluded....

i had the same problem. but the car had part ex the car i got now so thats why the plates were on it. only took two weeks and now had the car 3 months no issues or worries

Thanks for your replies! Haven't heard anything yet so hopefully the documents will come through this week and the dealer can then release the car!

Got the car today guys, couldn't be happier with it! Will post pictures later when I've sorted everything out!
