Ignition Barrel Not Engaging Steering Lock

Occasionally when removing the key from the Ignition Barrel there is no click from the barrel so the steering lock wont engage and the windows don't drop either. This usually happens when the car hasn''t been used for a day or two.
Once I remove the key and re insert it a couple of times it works fine.

Anyone else had this problem?

I have heard of faulty ignition barrels on early Sciroccos

Try a little light oil on your key and wiggle it!

Take it back to the dealer to be fixed under warranty, if that's the case

I will when I get a chance.

Only problem is being able to replicate the fault to the dealer as it only seems to happen when the car hasn't been used for a day or two. I don't suppose they will just take my word for it that there is a fault.

Tell them to give you a courtesy car, then leave it at the dealer's for 2 or 3 days - they should be able to replicate it then
