Hello
I've had my black Scirocco for about a month from a VW franchise & I noticed in the sun, at the weekend, loads of swirl marks. The car's only 8 months old. Should I complain to the dealer - is it worth it - what can they do...?
any thoughts?
cheers

No point in complaining to the dealer as the swirl marks are normally caused by washing. If you look at most cars in teh sun they have swirl marks unless they are owned by a detailer with OCD. Black is a particularly bad colour for showing up minor defects.
Easily fixed with a paint correction.

As above. dealers wouldnt do nothing. thats what comes with having a black car. Have a look on detailing world mate. There is tons of stuff about swirl marks and paint correction etc. machine polishing is the best way to rid of swirl marks.

Mines black and has some swirl marks and I am considering having a go with some Auto Finesse Tripple which has been recommended to me by several members on here, would people agree with this suggestion?

Yes I would agree. Was I one of them who suggested? I can't remember lol

. It works a treat on black cars.
This is my girlfriends car that I did.
http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/s ... p?t=301829" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I used triple. Was coverd in marks and swirls. Triple got rid of most of the swirls and helped the appearance of the ones it didn't.

Machine polish by someone who knows what they are doing.

A DIY solution is Poorboys Blackhole which will 'fill/mask' swirls to a certain degree, will need a wax or sealant on top.
Prep is the key with these products as they will only bond to clean paint. Wash, clay, rinse, apply BH then Wax.
A machine polish will correct it for you, but you will then need to be very particular with your wash routine afterwards.
Paul.

Hi, i assume you have had paintwork done?? If so definitely take it back, in the trade its called hologram and its where the buffer got to hot shows up really bad on darker colours. There is a 3m product that is developed to remove this again with a machine as its impossible to remove by hand!!
Thanks Nick

maybe let a professional detailer to go over the bad areas. After sealing it with paint sealant like those from Nanolex/ Carpro/ Gtechnique, washing becomes really easy.
Use the slickest shampoo you can get, and use lamb wool mitts to wash ( with minimum hand pressure), you should not get any more marring on the surface.
remember, never press or wipe when you dry the car. Just pat using thick microfibres would be enough.

cheers for the replies...
Was going to wash it tonight & try Auto Finesse Tripple as a lot of people have said it gets rid of the worst swirl marks. But it's too hot here so may have a go in the morning.
I have some other marks on the bonnet (near VW badge) which look like water marks where I'ce cleaned off whitish drops (no idea what) thrown up by the road or another car...
I think the Roc looks great in black but it's a paint in the @rse to keep perfect...

And that's the reason why I didn't get a black one.
