Newbie with a test drive booked on Sunday

Evenin' all!
I've made my way over here from the TT-Forum (that I co-own/run), after one of your guys kindly pointed my in this direction as to "all things Scirocco!".
As you'll see from my Sig' there's currently an automotive void in my life that needs filling, and the 'roc might just be the car to do it. I had intended to fill it with a TTS(R) or Boxster S, but the sensible side of me is telling my to shove more money into my house deposit and get something cheaper. Having had a 'weekend' cars, my work circumstances have changed so it now needs to be special, but still economic to suit my new 60 mile daily commute.
I've played around with the config' and spoken to my dealer who has arranged a test drive for me on Sunday. Ideal world would see my in CW 2.0 TSi GT with xenons, Sunroof, Cruise and Audi Pack, BUT, as you already know xenons are no longer available which makes things tricky for me. I wouldn't be able to cope without xenons so it is going to be a used or stock/docks car for me (if the test drive is successful). Discount achieved in prelim' talks is around 8%, but I expect to do better than considering I have no p/x etc.
A few q's before I go for the drive on sunday:
1. What do you 2.0 TSi GT guys get MPG wise?
2. Known problems I should be aware of that might make me think twice about my desired spec?
3. The kind of discount I can realistically achieve?
Anyway, I look forward to being part of this place should I go through with the purchase.
Cheers
Kevin
p.s Rob, are you on here?

can get discounts up to 10%, not sure how many xenon cars still in the system, we've seen a few stock cars appear from members, economy wise pretty good, ex GTI owners are seeing an improvement over there daily routes and post remap for me its improved even more, spec wise the roof looks

with the candy white, where abouts you based?

My dealer mentioned that xenon cars are few and far between now, so it might be tricky. I might have to hold on for used cars to appear.
If I do go through with it, the first thing I will be doing is visiting my favoured tuner for a remap, so hopefully that will increase MPG.
I'm a Bristol lad (lived here all my 31 years).

Dear Newbie from another Newbie
7 weeks ago i did the same thing on a Sunday ...took a test drive. Wow hooked in 20 mins.Tried all the others Cupra, Type R. ST3 but not the Mazda MP ...felt sick at sight of it.The Scirrocco was way way ahead so had to buy one. VW used stock is where i looked 1st. There was one that stood out due to mileage 50 miles only and in Candy , manual, leather, sunroof, Dyna audio upgrade. Mistake ..no, dealer had pre reg as demo but kept in the showroom...saved 2 grand + and no waiting. Drove away 2 weeks later. It has made such an impression i have even cleared the garage after 9 years to actually put it away at nite!
The overall quality in my eyes is way ahead for the money. I have never had a car where so many people stop and look and admire. On your test drive forget the motorway, find a twisty road and a couple of roundabouts set to sport and enjoy
Good Hunting
Frank

will be good to hear your feedback, still toying myself mainly due to the will they won't they and when on the more powerful R20, in reality i'm swing to the roc given the mk6 gti is stupid money when the only benefit is a slightly better dash

What a biiiiiiiig feeling car in comparison to the Mini!

Mainly a good thing because it made the Motorway test bit feel much more comfortable and enjoyable. Parking the thing is another problem all together though, visibility out the back is hard, and it's made doubly hard with the big bulbous rear arches. Hopefully it would be a problem that was rectified once used to the width of the car.
I couldn't warm to the DSG with the 2.0TSi, which is odd because the S-Tronic 2.0TFSi TT that I was going to buy feels worlds apart. I don't know why but the box never felt 'on it' and i struggled to be in a comfortable gear through bends etc. We eventually nipped back and got a 1.4TSi for me to play with (they didn't have a 2.0 Manual. Strangely enough it felt as fast as the DSG 2.0T, and a more rewarding experience. So a 2.0GT with a manual box would suit me best.
I have a dealer looking out for a manual car with xenons and sunroof for me, so if he can do one and stick to his proposed discount it might be the car for me if the figures stack up depreciation wise.

If that's the one in Coventry, then I've been told that car isn't available to sell until June. It's pretty much my perfect spec' as well.

Yep the one with Xenons is in Coventry, i popped in a couple of weeks back and it wasn't for sale, guess it must be the demo. However it is now advertised on the VW used website so it looks as though it could now be availible, might be worth a call. When i went over there they had about five Sciroccos so they may be looking at off loading a couple earlier than expected. The other white one with Xenons is in Nuneaton.

It was the first place I rang last friday after seeing it on the Used Car site. It is a demo which they can't sell for 90 days. I asked: 1)Why it's pretty much list price 2)Why the hell they were advertising it if they couldn't sell it yet?!?
They said that somebody might want to reserve it for when it becomes available in June!
