RUST on DRIVESHAFT

Hi Forum,

While checking under the car today, after noticing a slightly different light rattling sound, a bit like bottles rattling, I noticed a very rusty looking object under the car. Obviously not rattle connected, but I had a closer look, and I'm not sure what its called, but there's a round metal piece with diameter similar to a beer mat and about one inch thick with a few small nuts through it, which I believe us attached to the driveshaft ( or halfshaft) and just to the right of and under the engine as you inspect it with the bonnet open.
This piece is completely covered in light surface rust.
The car still is only a few months old and less than 10k km on it.

Anyone else notice this, is it normal, or does it need to be attended to?

The rattle I'm gonna keep an eye (or ear) on for the moment, but ill have it noted next time it's in for work.
