Coming Home Lights Function

Guys,

I am still very new to the Scirocco having only owned it for 2 weeks so forgive me if this is a stupid question.

Regarding the coming home lights function, how does it actually work??

I have did a search and see theres a few threads about this issue where people have said you need to flash your main beam once to activate them whereas some others have said they should work automatically when you take your key out of the ignition. What is the correct method - flash light once or should work automatically?

When I took my key out of the ignition last night my lights automatically turned themselves off and remained off as I got out the car and locked it so my coming home function didn't work automatically. (My lights are always on the AUTO postion) The leaving home function does however work great and no issues with that.

Any ideas? I have a 13 plate 1.4 TSI if that makes any difference. Cheers

It's a selectable option in the MFD, you should be able to select how long the lights stay on for too if I remember correctly....

After activating it on the MFD

Next time u get out of car when its dark, u need to pull the headlamp flasher to active the lights

It can set to operate without a headlamp flash with VCDS (as per the Golf Mk.VI set up). A lot of people found it an annoying feature on the Golf VI and got a bit tired of the cries of 'You have left your lights on mate' in supermarket car-parks etc so perhaps this is why it needs driver input to activate it on the Roc. Its obviously a great feature if you live in an unlit area though.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I just found it strange that they don't work automatically, surely if you didn't want them you would just switch them off on the MFD, rather than people who do use them having to flash their headlamps everytime to activate. Oh well at least I know they aren't broken!

Thanks again.
