I have purchased a fiscon basic plus for my 58 roc 2.0tsi and was under the impression that I would just get to do some coding to enable phone prep, however I have spoken to someone at VW and she seemed to think that I couldn't do this? She said the car needs to come from the factory with a module to allow Bluetooth to be connected at a later date. Is she right?

fiscon is completely separate to the VW bluetooth it was an alternative option to the VW system when they were only selling integrated (no separate screen) rsap bluetooth.
did you have a look at how to install fiscon?

Yes, so I'm right in thinking that I just need phone enabled on the settings and everything should work? I was asking them to enable the phone prep but she couldn't understand me.

yes.
find someone local with vagcom, it takes 2 seconds to code it in once connected up.
sadly the dealers do not have a scooby in the large percentage of cases, even down to standard equipment as has been proven here several times over..

I hope that's the case for me! Do I need Amy special tools to remove the head unit?

Yes I have looked at it several times but I didn't know if there were any special 'key' tools to remove the head unit or if it was just screws.

Fitted this today and luckily there was no coding required! Is there a way to improve the quality of the music? Also why doesn't this show up as Bluetooth audio on my media?

Do you get the directional arrows in the MFD. Mine worked ok when i put it in but i had to recode the car to get the directional arrows to show on the MFD.

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean? Are you asking if I'm able to scroll through the menus on my MFD? If so, yes.
