Glove compartment light - no biggie - but will drive me nuts

Ok - be gentle with me - this is my first post here. I have just bought a 58 plate 2.0 TSI GT - in silver. Almost mint condition - a few minor bodywork issues to deal with but nothing major. I would ideally like everything on the car to be perfect. Thing is, the light in the glove box doesn't do anything. I've had the bulb out and it checks out OK. I've tried the light switch in all the light settings - but this light never comes on. This is obviously a trivial issue, but being a perfectionist this will drive me nuts till I can find out why. Anybody have any ideas?
In every other respect this car absolutely rocks - permanent smile on my face for the last couple of days.
Regards
Mike

That was my first thought - Had a look at some fuse layouts - couldn't see one which mentioned the glove compartment light. Thanks anyway.

If it was the fuse, then all the internal lights go off, above the rearview mirror, footwell, centre roof area and boot light.
Its a simple circuit with a lamp/lamp unit and a micro-switch from the 12 volt ignition busbar driven by the Central Electrics Controller. There isn't a dedicated fuse. The two fuses for all of the Central Electics are in the side dash as fuse 15 (7.5Amp [Brown]) and fuse 25 (25Amp [orange]).
The micro-switch is behind the glovebox draw inside the dash.
Don't think you will get at the micro-switch without removing the Glove Box Unit. The under dash access via the removal of the underdash foam cover (2 finger cap nuts) is blocked by the Pollen Filter holder and the in front of it, the under dash Climate air outlet manifold.
That means taking off the passenger side silver trim strip, a few (7 iirc)Torx bolts, lower and middle sections of door 'A' pillar trim. The reason for th 'A' pillar trim off is the Glove Box slides out towards the door first a couple of cm's to a limit stop, then falls towards the passenger seat. One of the Torx bolts is hidden behind the radio surround centre dash cover, so that comes out too.
Once free of the dash, the Box has to have the Aircon duct off, Airbag electrical connection disconnected and the footwell lamp unit disconnected.

Thanks for this detailed info. I thought there must be a switch somewhere, and now I know how to get at it. Obviously not a big issue, it's only a light in the glove compartment - low priority - I may get round to looking at it one of these days.
Many thanks again for your help
