Specialist cleaning v 'other methods'...

In this cold spell (well most of winter really these days) I find it difficult to get energised to give the car a good wash and often the conditions are freezing and dont allow it. Now the problem is this - since owning my last car (Golf mk.6) I have trained myself to only wash it the proper way - 2 buckets etc. And all thats great but the opportunity to wash the car properly in this weather is far less frequent than in summer.
The, rather irrirtating, net result of this policy is that my neighbours cars (presumably done every weekend by the local hand car wash) are clean most of the time but mine (as the hand car wash is now out of bounds) is usually filithy. The irony of this being that I am supposed to be the enthusiast and have the filthy Roc and the neighbous cars are nice and clean. OK they are probably full of swirls but whats worse - a filthy swirl free car or a gleamimg clean swirly one... discuss...
