"S31OCO"

Hi all.
First post, so be gentle!
I'm a '58 Scirocco owner, 2.0 GT TSi, DSG, satnav etc.
I am currently considering selling it. I have a private plate, roughly spelling Scirocco (exact plate is S31 OCO). I'm trying to gauge how much people might be willing to pay for this? I plan to sell this seperately to the car itself. Probably an Ebay job.
The plate looks pretty great on the car- have had several comments from people. I've had it for about 2 years now.
I'm aware that folks reading this could be potential bidders as well, but hopefully will get some decent appraisals. I've seen a few similar plates spelling Scirocco, but none as close to the word as mine (happy to be corrected of course)
Opinions please!
Cheers,
NShahid.

I am not really into personal reg numbers myself, may be worth up to £500, but I stand to be corrected as I don't really keep tabs on this stuff.

Yeah, that's roughly what I was thinking.
What are the rules about publicising Ebay items on the forum?
Thanks.

any items for sale on the forum should be located in the buy/sell forum which comes available once you have made a reasonable and valid contribution to the forum (as with the pm function).
I will let this run for now but this is
not a for sale topic otherwise I will remove it.

Hi Trix,
Absolutely- I'm not looking to sell right now. Have a few things to sort out first.
Just trying to gauge some figures, so I can do the maths for the next car.
Didn't see a buy/sell section, which is why I posted in General.
Thanks.

I believe the Buy/See section is not visible until you have a certain post-count under your belt....

As with all things, the plate is worth what someone will pay for it. I honestly can't see it being worth much more than £250 - £350 as the Scirocco connection is pretty weak, IMO
i wish you luck and hope I'm wrong

Haha, really? Oh dear.
I thought it was pretty good- the "3" looks vaguely like a reversed "C". Then you are just missing an "R"...
Hope you're wrong too!

...and another "C".
Sorry, I can't see "3" as a "C" even if it is reversed.
Put an advert up in your local Specsavers and you might be lucky :-)
You could always try and find someone called "Coco" who drives a S3 :-)
Good luck anyway and remember and come back and tell me I was wrong.

I looked on DVLA website at these 'cherished' numbers just for curiosity value and it does seem that the going rate is circa £250. I think my guess at £500 was somewhat over optimistic for this particular plate, but yes - as Cuprabob says, it is worth what somebody is prepared to pay.

It wasn't an advert, just a request for a guide as to what it might be worth when he does look to sell

Not quite gotten round to it yet. Need to get a few scuffs on the alloys sorted out and also take some good pics of the inside. Waiting for the weather to warm up a bit so I can give the car a good clean!
