Right after watching watchdog last night I've just ordered an 18" steel space saver for the R.

Can anyone with a MY2011/12/13 Rocco R tell me the tyre size needed for this wheel please as I'll need to order one!

Cheers

Lee

Tyre sealants basically rubbish get a good old spare wheel and tyre instead

Invoice in car but that part number looks similar :)

Just to add mines a 2010 model so came with puncture repair kit

They changed in MY11 to steel space saver wheel so they obviously knew it was a poor solution anyway!

Nothing new there then :)

If you want to compare prices, VW do the tyres............

1K0 601 324 which is not manufacturer identified T125/70R18 99M 18" tyre.
1K0 601 324 R CO for the Continetal T125/70R18 99M which are the 18" tyre.
Is that Conti CST17 in 125/70 R18 ??
Yes.
-------------

1K0 601 324C which is not manufacturer identified T125/70R16 96M 16" tyre.
1K0 601 324C R CO for the Continetal T125/70R16 96M which are the 16" tyre.

2008 on 08 plate :)

Don't know month...but it's a 1.4 TDI!

Think it's gonna use a 165/70 R14 tyre .....

My missus doesn't have any choice with her Mini Convertible - unless she's prepared to have a spare on the back seat all the time..

They said last night only VW Polo's and Golf's came with proper space saver spare tyres. So many manufacturers use the sealant kit now

The thing is tyre fitters won't want to repair a tyre that has had the sealant applied as it takes a bit of elbow grease to remove! So you are forced to buy a new tyre when if you used a spare tyre, the punctured one coud be repaired at much cheaper cost!

There appears to be no spare wheel specified as a spacesaver. :? Nor for 2007 or 2009.
Polo Spare Wheels and Tyres.JPG
are the current for latest Polo.

There's a 16 inch for use on the smaller wheeled Golfs.

Might be a full size wheel / tyre combo then in 14 inch spec

Yes, I thought it was telling me that, but I thought you may have a problem with the full wheel/tyre due to depth of the spare wheel well. Then you run into the hump in the boot carpet problem and they may not make one. The late Corrado's and later Mk2 Sciroccos couldn't fit a full wheel combo, nor was a humped carpet available plus it takes up silly space which means things cannot lie flat in the boot.

It's on a 4 stud rim. Her car is 5 stud.

We think the dealer she bought it from just threw an eBay jobbie in there from a 6N Polo, and despite her having lots of reservations about it I never did check it out properly. :shake:

So when her work peeps tried to change her flat tyre the other day they told her damn spare is 4 stud!!!!!

But the 5 stud version will get picked up from TPS tomorrow. I just need to check the tyre on the 4 stud wheel to see if it's same size in 165/70 R14 spec so we can put it on the new spare wheel. :D
