2011 Volkswagen Scirocco 2.0TDI R-line

Bought this car from an owner that I think did some great work to the car before I got it. I've different VW and Audis the last 15 years, and I am glad I ended up on a Scirocco this time. I just love this car in every way. Even though the car looks good from the previous owner, I want to put my own personal touch to the car. So I have a lot of mods planned. I will post them as I go along.

Specs:
  • 2.0 TDI 140hp
  • Indium Grey
  • GT package
  • DCC
The previous owner did these mods:
  • KW coilovers with DCC support
  • Xenon in all lights on the front
  • Tinted windows in the doors
  • Door handles from the R
  • Lamin-X tint on headlights and foglights
  • Tinted turnsignals in bumper and mirrors
  • Tinted rear reflectors
  • R roof spoiler
  • 20" Advanti rims
  • Rear R-bumper with Golf 6 GTI exhaust
This is how the car looked the day I bought it:

... I have several plans, stay tuned :)

Not much tyre on those wheels :)

Where you get the tail lights from?

Mod 3

The car didn't come with cruise control, so that had to be retrofitted. Inspired by this thread i went to the local dealer and bought a new stalk. A local scrapyard had a 2012 VW Touran that was totaled after a crash. Looking inside the car I saw it had cruise control, so I checked the slip ring controller part number, and it was the H-version. I bought it of the scrapyard. The retrofit took about 20 minutes and the cruise control works perfectly, also in the MFD.

Mod 4

The car came with RCD510... Wanted the RNS510. Got a hold of a brand new unit, LED version H (HW: 61). The retrofit took only minutes and coded the unit using VCDS 11.11. Activated "Navigation" under "CAN Gateway" and also got the MFD working with it. Love the new RNS510 :=)

Also activated "Video in Motion" by software hack, not hardware. Works like a dream:

Mod 5

The previous owner fitted 35w Xenon to the fog lights. I coded with VCDS so that the fog lights works as DRL, and only them. And since I am a "LED whore" I swapped the Xenon kit for some high output LEDs instead. Nicer color, a bit brighter and lasts a whole lot longer.

Xenon BEFORE fitting LEDs:

New high output LEDs:

Fitted resistors so I don't get the "bulb out" warning:

My daughter watched and made sure I did everything correctly:

When you swapped the RCD for the RNS, was there already a loom/wiring for the navigation antenna? As I was under the impression that the sharkfin fitted to models with the RCD was just a dummy?

Nice looking motor that...but blimey, is that rubber bands on those wheels. Wouldn't fancy the chances of tgem lasting too long on bad roads...
