Hi, My driver window stopped working today with a small metalic wire appearing. My dealer says it will cost approx £250 to fix, but may look for a goodwill gesture from VW. Car was out of warrantly in September, and is a 58 plate.
Has anyone else had this issue or advice?
Thanks.
Electric Window Issues - broken motor?
Re: Electric Window Issues - broken motor?
Depending on how much your willing to do DIY you could have a go at removing the door card and seeing if it's just a loose wire. There is a guide on here to removing them.
Which side is the wire?

Re: Electric Window Issues - broken motor?
Interesting how this has appeared.
My off side window started to play up with it suddenly going down on its own. (has been a known issue with a lot of owners)
So when I put my car in for a service I told them and luckily it did it when they tested it. So they contacted VW and they said that the software needed updating in which they did and the window seemed fine. Now luckily when I told them about it the car just had a few days left of the warranty so if the fault happened again it would still be fixed under warranty. So started it the next day, put windows down then crunch/grind/bang
Managed to get the window back up and wires etc came with it.
Went back to VW where the head tec guy said it was the window regulator which had gone and was getting to be quite a common issue for this age ( 09 plate)
So it was put in when they got the part only for me to go back to get the window aligned correctly as I could hear a wind noise when at speed.
The thing which got my is that I`ve done 20k in the car since new and this sort of thing is becoming more common?!

Re: Electric Window Issues - broken motor?
Today the exact same thing happened to my passenger side window (crunch/grind/bang) - can't see any wires though, will need to take it to a VW dealer tomorrow, I have a 58 plate too from October 2008.
