Cheap Wheel Cleaning tool

I have been for a few weeks without a wheel cleaning brush. I usually use what I call a Wool Lamb's Tail to clean the inside flat wheel surfaces. Supplies seemed to have runout everywhere recently.

Then in Tesco's I noticed in the "Keep It Handy" yellow boxes (in the Kitchen & Toilet cleaning liquids section) a couple of weeks ago a handy tool for cleaning the inside flat faces of the wheels. A long Radiator Duster. It consists of a microfibre cloth on a plastic stick. A couple of minor mods later with Velco Hook stick-on pads and Gaffa Tape as per the photo and it works a treat. (The existing Velcro hook tape around the handle is not upto warm water and car shampoo.)

Although it looks flat & broad, the width of the microfibre cloth at 8cm compresses down to 4cm (width of the plactic extension holding the microfibre cloth). It easily goes through the wheel spokes to clean the flat inside face of the wheel and flops over the inside edge to clean that as well. Plus it slides inbetween the front wheel's flat inside surface and the front brake caliper with ease which the Lamb's Tail struggled to do. When that part of the cleaning is done, just a wipe with a sponge on the wheel outer face and behind the spokes.

(BTW. I wax the inside areas of my wheel which makes the cleaning off the brake dust easier.)
