Hi all,

Having owned my rocco r for a few weeks now I have realised I will never get out of it what it wants to give on the roads so I am thinking track day.

Does anyone have any recommendations or tips on track days? I live in Hampshire. I have never looked into one before do don't really know what I'm looking for or how they work etc.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Bedford Autodrome is a fantastic place to start, just been there this Saturday for the first time in my R. Very large run offs so in the event of spinning your unlikely to hit anything to severe. Hoping to go on the 17th March, however have to get work off first. I've just posted some pics of the day in the R forum.

Start with airfields move on the circuits once you've got some practice, find good independent mechanic as you'll find standard bits need replacing much sooner also make friends with a tyre dealer. Learn to understand when the car and more importantly your brakes are telling you its time to come in.

In terms where to go well there are plenty of airfields in wiltshire/Oxfordshire. Thruxton in Hampshire is an excellent circuit but don't consider it as your first time the speeds are far too high, a small mistake there can be very expensive.

You find most dates on http://www.trackdaylist.com. Avoid competive/timed events any day that doesn't ban race prepped cars and most importantly any event that is not operated on a pass only on straights and on the left.
Pass anywhere events are generally full of track toys / race cars where contact is considered acceptable.

Finally your road insurance is not valid on track, specalist track cover is available if that matters.

MSV hold plenty of Novice days on their tracks so that's a good place to start

Hook up with people who have done track days and get some passenger rides to get a feel of what it's like also.
