Not bad for £400 IMHO
The difference in grip is amazing.

Couldn't agree more! the other night i was shopping in Trafford Park and thought to go home to cannock via Buxton and the snake pass.
I did not know it was closed until i got to Buxton when the police had put the 'CLOSED' signs up.
The snow there was not as bad as last winter but there was a thin layer still.
I never lost grip and had no problem climbing. Driven carefully these tyres are a god send!

Would also add my agreement to what you've both said. Was out about midnight on Saturday and it was clearly very icy but the winters were fantastic and the difference compared to other traffic around me was clearly noticeable especially when it came to bends and islands!
Can't believe i haven't used winters before and i would unreservedly recommend them to anyone. Especially as an unexpected bonus they seem to have improved my mpg by a little.

I got mine from love tyres. They are on the stock 17" wheels in the stock size as we have very little actual snow so i didn't want to compromise the handling the rest of the time by fitting narrower tyres.

I got the tyres from Germany and the 17" rims from eBay.

my alloys were from Ebay and tyres from mytyres.com.
the thing is even reasonable brands are better than nothing. For the irregular winters that we have in the uK, i think cheaper ones are enough ( not them really cheap chinese ones of course)
If you have the space, have the tyres fitted to the wheels. You can swap the sets over yourself come spring. Its costly to begin with, to have a set of wheels and tyres, but you actually prolong the life of both sets of tyres, so i think its worthwhile.
Aboveall, i can't imagine being stuck in snow and have to abandon the car miles away from home.
