Re: tyre pressure senson on....

Has anyone had a problem with the warning light being stuck on and being fobbed off by the dealers that "you must have a puncture/damaged tyre"?
Mine's been on for over a month now - all tyres fine so far as I can tell, all same pressure, correct pressure, and maintaining pressure. It won't reset when I press the button in the glovebox. As I understand it, the system only works through the ABS sensors when the car is being driven. So even if I have a dodgy tyre, it should still reset when I'm parked on my drive - it will just come on again as soon as I drive off again.
Is that right?
Dropped it in for a service this morning, explained the problem to the girl on the reception - she said "if there's a screw stuck in the tyre, it won't reset". I told her, politely, that was cobblers and that the book itself says there may be a fault in the system if it won't reset. But she was having none of it. Hopefully the guys in the workshop will see a fault flagged when they hook it up to the diagnostic machine (assuming they do bother to).
But just wanted to check I was right in anticipation of them fobbing me off later today when I collect.
