If it was me it happened to I'd just want a courtesy car and maybe push for a service or two.
As I said it doesn't really matter that it could have happened on the motorway, it didn't. I could have won the lottery and been speaking to you now from a Superyacht, but I didn't.

While I sympathise with your physical condition (MS isn't nice to have) I don't see what the steering on the car breaking has to do with it other than some extra stress and reduced freedom of movement. (not sure if you have hand controls or similar).

I'm sure the car will be fixed and returned in a reasonable timescale and you can go back to enjoying it. Cars are mechanical and sometimes they break lol

They said they would provide you with a courtesy car , now I take it, you will be wanting the courtesy car offered.

Take it, go about your business. No reason to stress. Seems VW are looking after you so far.

Other than I want the car I paid for.
Go and ask for it back, then you can start another thread stating your steering doesnt work as you havent gave them a chance to rectify the issue

Are you new to car ownership and the manner of a warranty?

Could have been worse, you could have bought a Range Rover instead, mine spent most its left back at the dealer

Enjoy the courtesy car, they're the fastest

I really don't get it Mr Fish.
You have bought a car
It developed a fault (in line with car ownership most faults tend to happen to new cars or really old cars)
It's being fixed, seemingly in a very nice and efficient manner by VW
You've been offered a courtesy car
But you're complaining it's not the car you bought and you want the car back.
But then you say you'd rather they replace the whole steering rack than just the bolt?

Honestly dude, take the courtesy car, stop moaning about it, and before you know your car will be back. I always enjoy the chance to have courtesy cars as most of the time they're pretty nice and you can abuse them a little more than you may want to abuse your own car.

You are the one bringing your private life into everything

As above, accept the courtesy car, let VW go about fixing your nice shiney new car, and chill
