+1 on that, very good tyres!3t3p wrote:went driving around the oopnurthring in the peak district yesterday. in 1 degrees at time with ice. can't praise the eagle F1's enough, at no time did I feel unsafe on them. they continue to be very good on our UK roads in ever regard. the way you can go at 80mph+ in the rain and feel so planted is great.
Would go for PSS in a heartbeat but Michelin don't seem to make them in 235/40 R18snapey wrote:Pilot Super Sports. Easily the best tyre I've come across. Awesome grip and their wear rate is uncannily low for the level of performance they offer.
If they don't, it will be down to the popularity of the size and the potential sales volume. The more popular size is 225/40x18C00kie wrote:Would go for PSS in a heartbeat but Michelin don't seem to make them in 235/40 R18snapey wrote:Pilot Super Sports. Just don't go out if it's below 10 degrees, or wet, or moist, or if the road looks even slightly damp.xjay1337 wrote:Eagle F1's on mine but going for Pilot Cup 2 which have recently been released in 235/40/18 when I'm due.
The Spyder is a high-powered, rear-wheel drive, mid-engined sports car with a traction control system that, from what I've read, allows a bit of slip as standard. The Scirocco is a front-wheel drive, front-engined car with a lot of weight over the front wheels. They drive in a completely different manner to each other and therefore tyres will perform in a correspondingly different way.shrink wrote:Just don't go out if it's below 10 degrees, or wet, or moist, or if the road looks even slightly damp.xjay1337 wrote:Eagle F1's on mine but going for Pilot Cup 2 which have recently been released in 235/40/18 when I'm due.
Cup 2s don't work in low temps at all. Tried to drive a boxter spyder with a set on in the wet and it was lethal. But a higher powered car on Michelin pSS was completely planted and solid.
IMHO for every day driving, in UK weather, and for when your car isn't just a track toy (as his boxter is) then PSS will outperform cup 2s in most respects.
I'll be fine :-) I've driven lots of tyres and my bike had similar type tyres.shrink wrote:Just don't go out if it's below 10 degrees, or wet, or moist, or if the road looks even slightly damp.xjay1337 wrote:Eagle F1's on mine but going for Pilot Cup 2 which have recently been released in 235/40/18 when I'm due.

That's ridiculous, my local tyre shop quoted me £133 each fitted.Redpastyboy wrote:Bought 4 Michelin pilot super sports today. Being fitted next week £182 each, so £728 total OUCH!!!

ouch! for what size? that's a stonking price.xjay1337 wrote:That's ridiculous, my local tyre shop quoted me £133 each fitted.Redpastyboy wrote:Bought 4 Michelin pilot super sports today. Being fitted next week £182 each, so £728 total OUCH!!!

245 40 will fit absolutely fine.

Sadly I'm Scottish, and cheap, and will run my bridgestones until they genuinely need replacing, but I'll be all over the PSS like a rash when the time comes.
