Re: Ordered
Same here - I don't want them using old sponges and chamois leather that may cause swirl marks and cobweb scratches. It does make it a little harder to spot any imperfection on collection is the car is a little dirty.danwuk wrote:thanks

Candy White and Truffle leather – nice choice, was top of my list at one point but then decided to play it safe with rising blue and black leather. I’ve still not seen either Candy White or Truffle leather in flesh but I bet it looks really cool

Re: Ordered
Congrats.
Candy white cars should start hitting the Uk in the next few weeks or so as the first orders customer cars in wite are being built now.

What was your dealer's response when you asked them not to valet the outside?danwuk wrote:thanks

Mine said this...
"That’s a very strange request as the car comes covered in vinyl outside so we would normally remove that as soon as the car arrives to make sure there is not any scratches on the car and then we would wash the car, if we don’t you will pick the car up filthy? Why is it you don’t want us to clean the car?"
I explained why I wanted to clean it myself and asked if he had not had this request before - I got this respose...
"In the 6 years ive been selling this is the first time, but it will be filthy not just dusty, plus the sticky residue left behind from the vinyl will be on there, I would strongly recommend letting us clean it, we use professional valeting materials and then you will be able to see that there are no scratches etc."
I'm not sure what to do now - what do you guys think?

Re: Ordered
my dealer was fine - exact words were "havent been asked to do that before but if thats what you want to do fair play to you"
So they are just going to valet the inside and remove the transport films

Re: Ordered
I'm trusting my dealer to clean it, whats the worse that can happen? The way I see it, if I'm not happy then I am eligible for some sort of discount, the last thing I want to do is piss off the garage, go home clean it myself, find something wrong and then the garage says "we would have spotted that if we cleaned it and did something about it, now that you've driven off with it, maybe it happened on the way home?"
I'm sorry but I'm going with the garage so if there are any comebacks then I have someone to complain to.

Re: Ordered
When you collect your car you will be asked to sign that you have accepted the vehicle and it is in good condition. If it is dirty you will not be able to examine the paintwork properly. If there was anything when you cleaned it you would have to prove it was like that when you collected it, so unless it is a flaw in the paint i.e Orange Peel or Runs etc I think you would be on a loser.
My suggestion would be let them clean it then spend as much time as you need to examine it properly before signing.
Just my opinion.

Re: Ordered
I agree. I've got a Paint Thickness Gauge, 2 grades of clay, a machine polisher with 3 grades of pad and 4 grades of polish here ready to use when my car arrives. As well as a selection of waxes.rehmondo wrote:I'm trusting my dealer to clean it, whats the worse that can happen? But I'll be letting the dealer do their initial prep. And if there's any paint damage, I'll be getting them to sort it before it leaves their premises.
It does happen that dealers prep cars badly, but it's the exception rather than the rule. Take an LED torch or similar if you feel the need so you can examine the paintwork properly.

Re: Ordered
Thankyou for your advice. I think I will let the dealer prep the car and take it from there.
Jon I look forward to seeing photos of your car. I would be interested to hear about the process of cleaning, polishing and waxing that you intend to use? I have looked on detailing world but there is so much info to wade through I'm not really getting anywhere.

I have now asked my dealer to clean the car and inspect it. I will have correction done afterwards if necessary
