Evening all, just half way through swapping out a good working RCD 510 with an RNS 510. The car also had VW bluetooth phone and DynAudio fitted.
Plugged it in and the unit turned on with the Volkswagen screen. No buttons respond and it turns itself off. 20 secods or so later it turns back on .. . and then off.
So I hooked up VAGCOM and ticked the 56-Navigation box on the installed list, checked for fault codes (there are none) and same problem. Tried to connect to the controller using VAGCOM and it just doesn't connect.
Any ideas?

Reseat & reboot... (no, I dont work in IT helpdesk
)
Sound a bit as if the power connects, but some of the other wires does not connect properly.
Is it possible for You to test the unit in another car?

Worth a try . . 1 other thing that throws me is the MFD shows the option for Navigation. Again no buttons respond.
I found out the unit came from a 10 plate Passat, so I would assume it's a straight swap of my old unit . ..

Yes check the pins and plugs to see if anything is damaged, where did you get the unit ?.
