Rattle from passenger side at low revs?

Post by pixelmix »

For a few months I've had a rattle from the front passenger side area (possibly from around the glovebox area / left side of the bonnet). I've shuffled everything around in the glovebox a bit, but to no avail. It occurs at lowish revs (I notice it primarily in 2nd, but confirmed earlier it is also noticeable in 3rd). I suspect it is a vibration caused by the engine revs.

The car isn't due a service for about 13,000 miles, so it would be good if I can find a simple solution before then. Any suggestions for possible issues? It doesn't sound like the rattling wiper issue mentioned on posts here, as that appears to be audible when parked.

Also, there is a rattle in the passenger B-Pillar / front passenger window area which is audible on rough road surfaces (most noticeable when I'm the passenger, so not seatbelt related). Is this a common area for a rattle?

2nd one, could it be in the passenger door? seem to recall people finding something coming lose inside the door & needing a bit of padding/taping up, http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... oor+rattle" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I had an annoying rattle like that, turned out to be my sunglasses in the overhead cubby hole.

My roc does have a sunglasses holder. Was this an added extra? I do have the sunroof though.

the roof compartment/sunglasses holder in roof is not present if you have the pano roof due to the associated mechanicals & parts

Solved my rattle by moving the mirror cover across to half way on the back of the passenger sun blind !!
