Which number do you call?

Post by bleedsoff »

I just wanted to check I'm calling the right VW customer service number as people seem to get far more info off them compared to what I can get. Is it 0800 333 666??

yes its that one (0800 333 666 from the VW contact us page http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/volkswagen-world/contact" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

it is shear luck of the draw though as to how switched on the person at the other end is.
I had one where I wanted to know whether my cat that was being built that week was complete & on ship yet, it took me explaining it at least 3 times before she understood what information I required as she kept wanting to tell me my build week & even then it took her almost 10 minutes (I jest not) to navigate the system & find out the information against my order (even with my commission number), on the flip side I have rung up & had all the info I require in a short 2 minute conversation.

tips: make sure you know exactly what you want to find out from them (current scheduled build week/is the build week frozen and confirmed for production/what stage of build your car is at/etc)

Hope that helps bleedsoff

ok  don't be too worried yet, if you get to next week (I'd recommend wednesday due to the bank holiday) & your dealer doesn't give you a build week or doesn't update you i'd recommend the plan of attack being..

1) if he doesn't update you at all - ring & ask him if there is a current scheduled build week (he may not want to alarm you with the fluctuations that the build weeks have especially early on after order placement)
2) if he won't give you a build week/says you haven't got one/updates you & says either of the previous - ask for your commission number & then ring VW customer services & just double check with them what their system says

Whey! Called them again today (because I am just so impatient) again they didn't have any info. Then 2 minutes later they called me back saying a estimate build week just went onto the system, what are the odds. They said week 27 estimate, still ages though :(! Thats with an order placed 5th May.

Yea I hope it comes forward a bit. Not sure what is stopping on VW shutdown for 2 weeks in July though. Whether factories are shutdown/transporters stop etc. Does anyone know?

I have been reading these forums throughly and think I would like to get the DRl turned off form the beginning. Not sure whether to get my own cable from here http://www.vag-diagnostics.com/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, or just ask the dealer. But that is it really would like to chip it up as its a 140TDI but think I will wait a year for that.

I think you will struggle to get your dealer to turn your drl's off but never fear we may be able to put you in touch with someone who already has vagcom who can help you out

VW Customer Service is ridiculous! Just called the 0800 number to see if any new info like change in weeks etc. They said they cant do anything to help and would have to contact the retailer! Even thought the other week they were far more helpful going into the systems etc to find info! What the hell!?

The customer service are pretty hit and miss, if you ring back tomorrow, you will probably get someone more helpful.

Although in saying that you found out that it was week 27 about 10 days ago - I wouldn't of thought that they have anything new to tell you.....

bleedsoff did you give them your COM number?

as Stuaz says its VERY hit & miss as to the knowledge level you get when you ring them, I had alsorts when I was tracking my build last year as I have previously mentioned.

Yea gone to week 26 now called back again got someone else. I know its only 10 days but I am inpatient :). And on call for work so sitting playing computer games and reading the forums. Just annoying that they are all trained differently should be a set standard across everything.
