P0299 Fault Code?

Post by qiwuv »

Does anyone know what fault code P0299 refers to?

Driving my car this evening and putting my foot down slightly, (not loads) has resulted in my car going into limp mode, the eml coming on and the glow plug light flashing. It also brought a P0401 code up aswell. Any help and info would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Looks very much like an EGR valve issue to me. Sadly, it's a common issue.

What you will find is that when the car is cold it will run as it should but as soon as the coolant temp gets to around 60 degrees the glow light will start flashing and the car will go into limp mode. While the car is heating up the EGR is closed and only when the car gets upto temperature the valve tries to open, when it doesn't the fault is triggered.

Solution is to clean or replace the EGR valve, which on the 2.0 TDI is a pain due to location.
