Water pump leak

Post by Asus27 »

Hello

Just found out I've got a slight leak on my water pump. Scirocco is a 66 plate model with 16k on the clock. Been told the car is just out of warrenty.

Has anyone else found this to be a fault as I've been told it's common.

Pricing the part up and it's not the cheapest

My 09 plate Scirocco (recently sold) had a replacement water pump when it only had 6K miles on it, but that was back in 2010! As per Paradox1 comment, I don't think it is common, but I would expect VW to offer up some goodwill with only 16K on the clock so long as it has been serviced within the dealer network. It would be very harsh if only just outside of warranty to not offer anything.

Because I picked it up with 1 service stamp, even tho it had 1 previous owner that sold it straight away and the rest of the time it sat in a for court. They fobbed me off
