HELP !! Engine issues 1.4 tsi

Post by Carterrero »

Hello I know there is a lot of issues with this engine but I’ll try to make this as short as possible . In November I had a new timing chain . The car had 88k on , it now has 90k on and the engine conked out while driving the mechanic has got back to me saying the valves have bent because there was carbon build up in the valves and the pistons have been hitting the valves befause the valves have stayed open due to the carbon ... I don’t know how logical this is he says it’s common for this engine but my guts telling me the timing chain skipped ( what he fitted ) which caused the bent valves . I don’t know if there’s anyway to ever prove this . Question being , is his excuse logical ? Thanks

Total and utter crap....take your car elsewhere, i wouldn't trust anyone who came back with carbon buildup as made your valves bend.

If you have bent valves then the timing chain has skipped or failed - simple as, nothing else will cause valves to bend.
I have stripped and rebuilt this engine myself and know it inside out so know what he is saying is impossible, but it's impossible regardless, carbon buildup cannot make a valve stick to the point it bends or hits the piston - complete nonsense.

The guy is no doubt feeding you this as doesn't want to take responsibility for the failed timing chain, of which he either didn't install correctly or has used some cheap 3rd party aftermarket kit.
