Broken rear spring
When looking for a rattle at the back of the car today, I found a freshly broken rear spring. Slightly alarming.
Had it replaced. Didn’t cure the rattle.
Next I found the rear parking sensor controller was detached.
It was meant to be attached with a bit of double sided, and as far as I could tell, the cables were just stuffed into a convenient gap. Is this how they’re normally ‘installed ‘?
This also didn’t cure the rattle.
I’ve shaken and kicked everything I can find. The rattle isn’t from the suspension, exhaust, or heat shield. It sounds like metal on metal.
Any suggestions for what else I can kick would be gratefully received.

Re: Broken rear spring
Maybe a piece of the spring is still laying in the rear strut.
And parking sensor module and wiring is not original but later fitted looking to the wires.

Thanks Roy
I’ll have a look for a loose bit tomorrow before driving 300 miles.
Might be insane after that drive if I don’t find it [emoji12]

You were bang on Roy. Rattle cured. [emoji3]
As to the hideous sensor wiring: out of sight, out of mind.

Don’t need lowering springs, just use wooden ones [emoji12]

Re: Broken rear spring
Eventually settled on the KW ST springs from Awsome.
Only a 20mm drop, but I didn't want to go properly low as some of my driving is quite 'agricultural'.
Plus, I measured the sill height: if I went for the H&R or Eibach I wouldn't be able to fit my jacks under the car.
Not as well known in the UK as they are in the US, but good reviews.
Might have to invest in a can of black paint: I'm not one for bright yellow parts on a black car
