Yep - go to the board index , look under the main scirocco forums and you'll find Buy/Sell/Swap and Group Buys

There's a minimum post count before you can see/advertise there though -i dont know exactly how many posts you need , but its not many.
If you cant see it already then you wont be far off

I was wondering the same thing as I'm on the look out for a Scirocco and thought I'd check the forum out.

We're much more generous than a lot of forums that make you pay or you need to be a member for several months and have hundreds of posts to see it.

It's just protection for the sellers.

I completely agree and think its the best way forward, anything that can protect the sellers should be applied.. it was simillar to when i was on the audi tt forum the last thing you want is people to feel unsafe on a trusted forum

I've been pondering this, as it's one of the quietest forums I'm on.

Could you not just enforce the rule that all payments not in person must be done via PayPal goods and services? So if they get screwed they have relatively bullet proof cover?

The classies are pretty much secret, which to be frank is putting off potential contributors.

I'm a paid member on the Clio Sport owners club, UKSO and various others so it's not like I'm a newbie to this, I've just got/had too many cars! Haha

You need a tiny tiny number of posts to get to the classifieds. The transactions between buyers and sellers are not done through us at all, it's entirely at their own risk and discretion.

The process has worked for years - don't see a reason to change it

It was just a thought, the place is hardly a hive of activity it could have pulled in more new users/contributors.

These days people are more likely to use ebay and pistonheads but we thought it was useful to have for anything else. I don't think we ever imagined it would be a thriving buy/sell area for most members. If we gave people access from the very start, any spambots that got through would have a field day farming email addresses. The tiny post count required just means the people selling have some peace of mind that the person has made some meaningful posts and therefore more likely to be 'real'.

Fair enough, I've generally picked my cars up from owners clubs as they tend to be better cared for and to be honest I wouldn't have posted until it was on the drive, so even if a car was for sale I'd have been forced elsewhere

Just looking through the ads, it tends to be bits of cars rather than the whole thing. I can only see 3 ads in the first 2 pages. I think people have far more success on pistonheads and autotrader for that. Your market is so much bigger.
