Hi, starting yesterday at night when driving the interior dome lights keep flashing but a dim glow as I am driving and sometimes when i'm stationary they are on permanently but dim not on full power. About a year ago I put in some led bulbs so ill try and replace them but as it is both of them i'm guessing it is the unit.

The centre switch which controls the interior roof lighting is a horrible design that hasn't changed since the golf mk5.
It is prone to having very poor contact as its just some pieces of galvanised metal which slide over each other. If you fiddle with the switch you'll probably get it to flicker on and off.
I fixed mine by taking the the whole housing out and soldering some silver loaded solder over the contact area - giving it a much more reliable electrical contact.
