So i'm going to be getting my Scirocco pretty soon, looking at a 2010 model with maybe 60-70k on the clock.
Getting a remap and i'm going to put a bit of money away just incase the clutch does start slipping. Iv'e been looking around the forums quite a bit and iv'e seen people quote as much as £1000 to get it sorted. However ive been on euro parts and found a Sachs clutch kit for just £270, and i'm guessing labour would be something between £150-£200? I dont get how ive seen a few quotes for £1,000 unless i'm missing something here?
New clutch costs?

Re: New clutch costs?
The sachs kit on euro car parts will be equivalent to the standard clutch. Im not sure whether it will slip or not after remapping. I have recently fitted a sachs performance clutch plate, clutch cover and a sachs dmf from euro car parts ready for stage 2 remap. I got the plate and cover direct from sachs themselves.Leepash wrote:So i'm going to be getting my Scirocco pretty soon, looking at a 2010 model with maybe 60-70k on the clock.

Perhaps enquire about their performance clutch, i went for the 550nm (torque) one. Could be a good option for a remapped car

Re: New clutch costs?
A lot of people also fit a new DMF when they fit a new clutch so that could be a reason for the higher quote price.
Re: New clutch costs?
A VW dealer would charge around 1K to 1.2k for a DSG. Manual would be cheaper?

Ah right, if i'm just going for a stage one and that's all i'll ever get for it. The specs are - 207bhp > 262 bhp and 207 lb/ft > 310 lb/ft, do you think a standard clutch will do?Psycho Kirky wrote: The sachs kit on euro car parts will be equivalent to the standard clutch. Ah yes, I do remember seeing about a DMF put in as well. Do you think this is essential ?Cuprabob wrote:A lot of people also fit a new DMF when they fit a new clutch so that could be a reason for the higher quote price.

Re: New clutch costs?
Ive just had a dual mass fly wheel, clutch and fitting on my 2012 tdi. However warranty covered the flywheel and labour as they deemed it at fault, i added the clutch for my peace of mind.
Costs:
DMF supplied by Warranty
Labour £354 (paid for by warranty)
Clutch: £235 (I paid)
Thats £589 for clutch and labour, but dunno if labour is higher due to flywheel change?
