MISFIRE?!

Post by Daveee93 »

My Scirocco 1.4 (160) has currently been having some issues. The past three weeks the engine light has flashed from approx. 5 seconds then gone off, which has happened about 10+ times. The cars gone into the garage today and they say they haven't been able to find the fault as it's intermittent. A diagnostic and road test has been carried out. Would the Diagnostic not have been able to pick up the fault when the engine light has flashed? It seems to be mainly in 3rd gear when accelerating hard.
Anyone got any ideas what to do?

Never mind they've done another road test and the faults came up :D New coil pack needed apparently, hopefully this fixes it.

Might be an idea to read all the doom'n'gloom posts on the forum about 1.4s and the expensive repairs - all of which appear to have started with a misfire. Then you can ram home to the dealership that they'd better eliminate all concerns in this direction.

Hopefully, your car is not in the affected batch.
