RNS510 poor sound quality through aux/ipod inputs

Post by Shep1481 »

Morning all,
I have searched about this topic on this site and haven't found anything so I apologise if this has already been covered elsewhere.
I've had my scirocco a week now, and I love it! But one thing that's bugging me is the sound quality from the ipod/aux inputs. The only way I can describe it is a distorted, fuzzy sound which is more noticeable with songs that have heavier bass lines. I've tested the same songs through the sd card slot and they sound brilliant, and have also made sure that the sound settings on the phone have been reset etc.
I have read elsewhere that it could be a bad earth so some pins would need swapping around at the rear of the headunit? But that still puzzles me as I'm pretty sure the headunit is factory fitted!
Any advice would be much appreciated :)
Thanks

Within the settings menu on the headunit, try changing the input sensitivity settings for the inputs. There are 3 options, low, medium and high.

I also have this problem, just with the songs that has heavier bass.
It kinda automatically "turns down" the volume in. Hard to describe exactly!

But it doesn't if i use a CD, radio or thru bluetooth.
I guess it's some kind of "protection" so you can't blow the speakers or something.

The OEM headunits have "clipping" on the output stages. If the input level is too high it can cause the outlut to "clip"

Thanks for the quick replys everyone!
I've just played around with the input settings and the 'fuzzyness' has now gone!
I feel like a bit of a chump now as how I missed that I don't know haha, but never mind. My excuse is that this is my first Volkswagen :)

Thanks again!

So im still here with the same problem.
I can only choose AUX input quality and there it is at low.

But if i play via bluetooth or CD the same thing happends.
Heavier bass tracks are getting clipped.

I've read somewhere that you could fix this by coding the headunit via VCDS.
Anyone has anymore tips or know someone who can code?
