Hi - I have a Scirocco gt tdi 61 plate
When its wet or damp the windscreen steams up. The air isn't on re-circ, there are no leaks ( I've checked for damp everywhere, extensively). If I put the windscreen button on ( full black air con to screen ) it clears in moments... but appears as son as I put normal blowers on.. its as if its blowing damp air straight onto the screen.
Its up to date on service items, filters etc.
Is this a common issue? Im not a noob to cars, but the only place I can see this steaming up from is via damp air being up - which I've never experienced before.
misting up windscreen... grr

Do you have the air con on when you select normal blowers?
If not, then put it on as it helps to prevent the windows steaming up as it dries the air. Most people just select it on hot days for cooling but the dehumdifier really helps on cold damp days.

I often do, and it keeps it clear.. but im conscious its decreasing my mpgs and seems to possibly mask an underlying issue.

Although I have my air con enabled almost all the time, I have noticed when it's not on the windcreen can mist up quite quicky.

I'm having the exact same problems with mine, Also have checked for damp/Leaks but no luck.
The only solution for me is to turn the AC on. Would love to know if this is a common problem.

I had the windscreen replaced and it did this to me too, thought it was the cheap looking windscreen (some guardian make). Anyway, it transpires that if it rains heavily and your car sits at an angle then the water from one side may not drain. Or the drain holes may be blocked.
The easiest way to do this (if anyone has any better suggestions please jump in) is to remove the two windscreen wiper arms, then remove the plastic housing underneath that clips into the windscreen. You will then see around the wiper arms two gullies. Check to see if water is held in them and check to see if the drain holes are free of debris and unblocked. Give them a good clean and flush through with water.

Re: misting up windscreen... grr
I will try that, many thanks.
I am on my original screen however it recently cracked, so it will have a look whilst the new one is fitted.
