F1 going to pay per view...SKY-sign petition please

Post by a4gee »

I`m not sure how many of you follow F1 on the BBC but if you do you`ll know its great coverage and now it seems SKY will run it costing the person who hasn`t got SKY about £600 a year. BBC says it`ll show 10 races live but if your paying for SKY,will you switch over? If you can`t afford SKY what`s the point on seeing half of the races? I can see the BBC getting out of this completely.
Highlights won`t show the build up or how each lap unfolds the strategy. I watch the last race live as always then watched bbc3 highlights and you just wouldn`t be able to get that excited about it as there was too much action and unanswered questions if you hadn`t seen it live.

I`m not sure if the attached link will help the cause but hope anything will help.....people power!!!

Even if you have SKY sports please support the fans who can`t have it. What is the sport without its fans?

There's one going up on the new government e-petition site too that will probably have more political weight to it but I'll sign em both.

The site's not open yet and I believe the petition there will be up on August 8th.

I have Sky, and have to admit, I love the footy coverage and believe noone can do it better. But F1? BBC has it nailed. Humour, detailed analysis from knowledgeable resources, great production, fantastic commentary. I really don't want it coming to Sky. Also, I KNOW they will hike the f*!%ing price too.

Looks like they'll share commentary but have their own pre/post pundits.

They've also said the BBC will have their non-live coverage on at 5-6pm so the wait to avoid the result won't be toooo bad. I think I can put up with that to save £20 a month.

First they ruin football, too much money in the game going to players because of it, now you'd think football never existed pre The Sky League, then took the majority of cricket and both codes of rugby, most decent golf tournaments and now F1. They get subscription money AND adverts win/win for them but not for the viewer. I wonder how many important bits are missed whilst the irritating 'go compare' fro e,g are selling their wares to us?

I accept they do a brilliant job in covering most sports but I will never subscribe to them again.

And breathe, rant over

Depend on what the BBC do..ie run highlights or run full thing which what be ok but not the same. Highlights just won`t do it justice.

Again all down to what BBC does and from 5pm I doubt they`ll show the full show.

I agree.

They've said extended highlights but that's a bit vague at the moment. The highlights are already an hour (maybe less 10 mins for a qually summary) so it would have to be a bit more than that really. Also I haven't seen if they said they'll rerun qually.

I have sky tv but I am still gutted that the BBC won't be covering the full season next year as it is now the coverage is spot on.I don't think that sky is to blame though the BBC was going to pull the coverage anyway so if it hadn't of gone to sky it would have ended up god knows where else

Apparently Jon Desborough is interested in anchoring Sky's F1 coverage, and it is expected that Tony Jardine and John Watson will be involved in the coverage. I don't find him very good. He er's a lot.

Not happy.

Maybe i could sync up BBC 5 live commentary with Sky footage of live races. Maybe some F1 nut might even do that too. lol.
