The World Cup! **spoilers**

Post by Kev »

Yes indeedy we're only 10 days away from the World Cup in South Africa and the England squad has been decided on
England's 23-man squad for the World Cup finals:

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), David James (Portsmouth), Robert Green (West Ham).

Defenders: Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Ledley King (Tottenham), John Terry (Chelsea), Matthew Upson (West Ham), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa).

Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), James Milner (Aston Villa), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City).

Forwards: Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).

Great pity for Walcott I think. And I'm a bit surprised Bent didn't make the cut, especially as he's the second highest top scorer in the premiership this year (Crouch isn't even in the top 30!), but he didn't really do a lot against Japan in his last chance at the weekend.

Roll on June 11th!

I think I am one of the few Scot's that want England to do well but as an Arsenal fan I am disappointed to see Walcott dropped.

Still think Spain will win it, they were untouchable at the Euro's

I'm a club man 1st and England a long long way after it. I hope of course that England win, I'm just not sure the odious players will be able to handle it, imagine John Terry, A****ole Cole etc being hailed as world cup winners, they are bad enough as it is.

Aaaaand we're off.

Missed the first game but the France - Uruguay one was a dullard.

Tight group now as they're all on a point.

South Africa 1-1 Mexico
Uruguay 0-0 France

Couldn't agree more wigit, what a total waste of a month, at least F1 qually is on today and the race tomorrow.

Just trying to work out how I avoid all the World Cup dross which is on, maybe I'll go on a month's driving holiday

Good headline in the papers this morning.

Hand of Clod.

BUT, I don't think him doing that is any worse than a couple of front players missing sitters but they don't get castigated for it. We're still ok, we can still get through. If we don't beat Algeria, then we can panic.

The Germans looked pretty ruthless tonight.

We certainly don't want to meet them in the next round!

Algeria 0-1 Slovenia
Serbia 0-1 Ghana
Germany 4-0 Australia
