For hire insurance

Post by tyrannosauRoss »

It won't be the Rocco but I'm looking at getting a secondary car (aka Navara or other pickup) for my use at work. During large long term jobs I could also hire it out to my company.
Anybody know what I'd be looking for to do this insurance wise? It's basically private owned for profit.

It's a difficult one if u r hiring the vehicle out u would essentially need a vehicle hire policy (generally any driver permitted by owner or any driver over 25 etc) these won't be cheap - I would give a smaller broker outfit like aplan or Swindon a call or pop in and they should be able to indicate cost for you. I work in private lines so don't really do hire and reward/commercial stuff so I'd suggest call a broker and cola in your requirements- mileage etc etc and see what they come up with.

Cheers,
I need to speak to work see if its something they'd be up for. The other option, dont know how it would work, is that it would be covered under their insurance, like how a normal vehicle hire works for us.

Company can own and insure it and will be easier from an insusnce point of view as insurance will generally state on a company fleet that vehicle is for use by any employee. Probably cheaper on the purchase too as most companies can claim VAT back too.
