AAARRRGGG..cannot decide on MK7 GTI

Post by kenny.c »

Ive notice the new Gold GTI has appeared on the VW website...

After choosing the options id like it comes to £28,800....!! But im still not sure how good it will look compaired to the Roc...

I did notice xenons were not an option...very dissapointed....turns out they are standard.....
Cannot decide if adaptive suspension is worth it or not.....

Anyone else considering changing their Roc for a MK7 GTI...?

Thanx

if you can get your head around having a hatchback then you know what is going to be the better drivers car

don't bother with the ACC and tick the performance pack

specced one for mrs w who is likely to order in next month or so, i'm not ditching the mk6 just yet

Deffo the performance pack.....dissapointing BHP increase.....but the LSD and brakes are worth it.
Standard GTI engine is still 50ft/lb down on our Revo'd Roc. But im sure that will change sooner or later

Id like the keyless entry and Dynaudio
Not bothered about the 19" wheels....at £1000 and the ride will be harsh
Not sure what the colour DIS offers over the standard DIS

It is tempting...

They will be interesting - presumably multi-coloured and kailedoscopic... like crazy, man!! :D

Sorry - you mean XDS? Free to activate on the Roc via VCDS!

Performance pack adds a proper mechanical lsd and not the sometimes unpredictable XDS which appears on the normal version

I think the specification package has been well thought out on both GTI and GTD, in fact i would call it generous!! - Bi-xenons, parking sensors, LED's, 18" alloys, 2-zone climate, cruise, folding mirrors, all as standard! It certainly reduces the options that have to be ticked which has previously been a bug-bear in the Golf range with mid-price cars such as the Match having better spec than the GT. Prob would only need just the sat-nav and rversing camera as options to satisfy all my needs.

For me, the big question is if VW will release a Roc Mk. 4 in the next 18 months. If not, then the GTD would definately be at the top of my list.... only negative point is that Carbon Grey seems to have been deleted as a colour option - that was a very dark grey metallic - shame...

I have considered the GTD but with the low milage we do it doesnt make sense.....and we would almost certain get DPF problems....My gut feeling is a new Roc is a long time away as they are just about to "facelift" the current model.

my mk6 is carbon grey and its just a great colour, they have missed a trick by not offering the performance pack on the GTD

Yes - I was not aware that a face lifted model was due before the next generation Scirocco. I too am keeping an eye out on the MK7 Golf but I don't want to change until about 2015 anyway (Roc will be 6 years old). 2015 would seem about right for the new model Roc, although I suspect we will know what it will look like much sooner than that.

Sorry - perhaps I was being a bit cynical! I should have said - "Ken, I think you're wrong on that - there is no 'facelifted' Scirocco due"!

Sorry when I say facelift......maybe more an update....my understanding is the newer engines along with a few other tweeks like new headlights with led DRLs.

Indeed - I understand its just a few minor tweaks (pretty much as is done each year around b/w 45) - probably not as significant as previous ones and definately not a 'facelift', lol!

As abit of and update....We were at the Gadget Show LIve at the NEC today and the new Golf GTI was actually there....5 door in red .....it really does look very differant from the standard Golfs.....front end very nice the red pin stripe and the DRls in the headlights look smart. Twin tail pipes look mean in the back bumper with the with the LED rear lights.

Interior is understated with everything tilted towards the driver......good driving position and nice feeling steering wheel.

One thing I didnt like so much was the sensor in the front bumper for the active cruise control and crash avoidance.

Overall its helped me think I want one.....just need to drive one now.

i'm not 100% sure if the active cruise is standard on the UK cars, the one at GS is pretty much what mrs w wants, was in a VW dealer today and i think tungsten silver would suit a Mk7 GTI
