Rear sub-frame rust

Post by Redpastyboy »

My R came through its MOT today at an independent garage. They mentioned rust on the rear sub-frame and quoted approx £100 to remove the rust and seal it. Just wondering how much a VW dealership would charge for this? I've got my service in a couple of months and could get it done at the same time.

Cheers

id imagine most subframes on the pre facelift roccos have rust. Depends on bad it is tbh. You could sandblast it, or replace it.

All 2004-2014 VAG cars (2 or 4WD, no difference) have the same design, material and very sh***y protection, they all rust at some point. Not critical for safety, but very critical when needing to balance the rear wheels, as the specific place where you adjust the screws is most likely very rusted and nothing can be done except to replace the subframe entirely.
