Play in the steering wheel, Scirocco characteristic?

Hi all,
I woud like some fellow owners advice , I have owned my R about 2 months now having come from an S3. Obviously the feel of each car is going to be different but i have a slight concern about the steering feel of my R. It has a fair bit of play in the centre position and feels quite light, a lot more than i would expect of any car and this is in all ACC modes. There is enough play that you can move the wheel a few degrees while driving and not get any steering input, i can also feel like on a longer sraight run i.e motorway that very often i am correcting the position of the wheel as there is this bit of lightness & play which allows it slightly off centre. Once past theis 'deadzone' the feel becomes a lot more as i would expect and stiffer. Is this a characteristic of the Scirocco? I have booked it into VW on Friday as its under warranty but I wouldnt be surprised if they dont find anything and send me on my way. Any views would be great. Thanks
