But you do say you use a sponge, so you're obviously not that fussed about any marks, cos if you were you'd be using a wash mitt.
The best (least risk to the paint anyway) way to dry a car is to pat dry with a plush towel, you'll get next to no swirl/scratch marks with this method. I personally use some last touch sprayed onto the car while drying to aid the process and reduce the chance of marking.
You'll find the white paint on the car very very forgiving, if it was black, you'd soon stop using a blade cos you'd see marks all over the place!
