Every site needs an off topic forum, right?

Product Engineer is my official title, but doesn't tell you a fat lot. I work in the Automotive industry designing / engineering car interiors for new models working out how to turn the styling sketches / clay models produced by the studio into reality. Currently working on a new interior for a vehicle launching in 2012. Quite a diverse role, starts off in the styling studio giving feasibility to concepts and usually ends with me being trackside at one of the OEM's getting a kicking during the launch phase.

Lots of paperwork and meetings  with some interesting bits to in between.

I'm an Associate Director at a construction consultancy in the City - essentially I am a client side project manager but similarly this does not quite encapsulate my job. I deal with everything from finding the funding; dealing with almost every type of property and construction legal document you can think off; procuring the contractors and consultants; right though to dealing with the guy laying the floor tiles or building bricks on site - and also a big chunk of business development thown in

My job has also taken me into lots of other industries as I have built everything from science labs, anechoic chambers, automated warehouses, data centres, medical centres, car showroom/ service centre, hotels, nightclubs, residential, offices and most recently airport work so while I have been doing the same job (or similar) for the past twenty years ,it always remains interesting. Pity about the current state of the industry though!!

Absolutley love it as I never know what the next day will bring, as every phonecall or email is about something completely different from the last one!!
My Roc was fast - but now its FASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
