ABS light, traction cont., Handbrake flashing and beeping!

Post by Rg_ »

Battery was completely drained and now it is coming up with the above as soon as the car is turned on?

Any ideas?

If you drive it a short distance they should go off after the steering angle sensor calibrates.

Drove it for a bit and it hasn't gone off.

Fluid level is fine. Going to check the fuses today.

Fully charged the battery and it is still on.

Also inspected the ABS fuses and no broken fuses.

VW are saying no recalls.

No fault codes when scanned.

Driving me mad!

That is weird, can't you try taking the battery off and then reconnect again?
All these signals come from abs controller.

I know :(

I have tried that. Also tried 2 different batteries fully charged.

Only other thing i saw mentioned was about how they lose their code for the ABS?

Had this driving me mad on my Scirocco for months! Exactly the same as yours, battery went dead, was charged up, but still didn’t go off. New battery put in, still beeping. Was a coding issue. Had a VW specialist I know have a look and it baffled him. Took it to a main dealer for something else, asked them to have a look at it. They managed to turn it off somehow but then told me that it would come back.

Well, touch wood it hasn’t really. Only thing I will say is that occasionally if I take a corner at speed, out of nowhere the three warning lights come on, and it will start beeping for very briefly for a few seconds. Once you turn the ignition on and off again. The lights go out.

Hope this helps. Drove me mad for months!

Thanks for the reply, i spoke to another garage on the phone who said its a main dealer issue to get it off as he thinks its something to do with a unique code for the car that gets programmed in.

Called VW they want £60 just to look at it :grumpy: but looks like the only way left to go now.

Took it down VW and they said camshaft position sensor fault which they think is correlating to it??

So still got it beeping and flashing. :/

You can log the camshaft sensor and see if it has spikes or weird values.
Didn’t know the are related, only that mass air flow sensor and esp are related on a tdi.

How do i go about doing that?

And i'm not sure. They said the only code you can lose is the radio code so i don't know what the other garage meant about an ABS code?

They said that the abs lost its long coding i understand from your story.
If you have an old scan you can put the old coding back.
With advanced measuring values in module 1 engine you can select the camshaft sensor and see what it does when engine is running.

I have just got my car back from a massive engine overhaul. The camshaft sensor and all related bits are done and my engine drives great all with a major service.

Garage has reported brakes are fine also as part of service but still the beeping on dash!

He also thinks the ABS module has lost its coding so im going to have to go to VW. Will get it back down VW.

Car is booked in with VW. They said I am due the abs module recall so hopefully that sorts it.

Funny cos when I checked for recall online it said none so always worth calling them.

All fixed!

After taking it to VW i got the ABS module recall done for free and they sorted it all.

Worth ringing and checking if your due the recall.
