Front Fog / Angel lights - no switch?

Post by BBJMD »

Hi all

I've recently purchased a Scirocco 2.0 TSI 2009.

This came with what I guess should be described as front fog / angel lights - two circular lights on the front bumper, however I can't for the life of me work out how to switch them on.

Have these been installed as part of a body kit but no wired up?

For info, here's the switch I have

I hope you can help! Thanks

Have you got a photo of the lights themselves? Doesn’t sound like standard lights.

If they’re fog lights, you pull the switch out one click when the switch is turned to headlights.

Normally there is a book in the glove box called car manual.

There's something not right about that headlight switch as it looks as though it only has a rear fog light setting. With the cars with front fog lights you pull it once for front fogs and twice for front and rear fogs. The legend on the switch only has one fog light setting.

Are you sure someone hasn't wired them up as DRLs. Have you checked whether they are on when the engine is running?

Normally yes, unfortunately it doesn't have one, hence why I'm posting here. If you've got nothing of value to share I suggest you keep your comments to yourself.

Hi Jeff, that's the rear fog switch.

This isn't mine but I grabbed this off google - Those circular lights in the grill that are switched on in this pic, just below the side lights:

Those are the standard fog lights in the pre-facelift models. As Cuprabob says: the switch usually has two fog light symbols and pulls out two clicks to turn on both front and rear (the switch has to be turned to headlights first. Doesn’t work on auto). Is the switch photo of your car, or an image you found online? If it’s your switch then there’s something odd going on.

Im sorry, overload of simple questions i see on this forum often that people can figure out themselfs.
But yours is not this kind.

Here are the wiring diagrams, think the easiest way is to check if the lights are wired.
If this is the case you only need to change the light switch and enable front fog lights with vcds.
Go to module 09 cent. electronics long coding byte 14 and check bit 0 front fog lights installed and save.

I don’t know if there were any models released Without fogs. If there were, I suppose this could be a non-fog car that’s had a replacement bumper With fogs put on it.
Easy way to check if the fogs themselves are wired in: pull of the black panel around the fog

Then look behind to see the wiring

I suggest looking at the nearside one, there’s more space behind the panel.

Thanks so much Jeff this is great! I've just had a go but it does move easy, I'll give it a good tug later, fingers crossed it's wired.

Yeah it’s quite firmly attached. This is the official access for changing fog/side/indicator lights.
